APPLY for a Grant

We recommend that you check your eligibility to make sure that your request is within the range of activities that we are able to support.

CHECK the eligibility of your request using the flow chart below

Application Eligibility Checklist

WHAT we will support

If you meet our eligibility requirements - the type of applications that we support include those that are intended to meet the costs (in full or in part) of: practical assistance; specialist advice; items of equipment; therapeutic aids; medical or nursing care; treatments; therapy; training; education; access; accommodation; services; comforts and the provision of facilities for recreation and other leisure activities.

HOW to apply

Requests for funding should be sent to the Trust by email or post, on not more than 2 pages of A4, alongside any supporting statements, professional assessments and quotations or estimates.

In your request you must explain how the proposed activity for which funding is sought meets the Kaye Charitable Trust objectives: “For the public benefit, to relieve the needs of young adults aged 19 to 35 in England and Wales who are living with mental, physical or learning disabilities, and by extension their families and carers, in particular but not exclusively by the provision of grants to assist and support in their treatment, care, education, accommodation and recreation.”

Charities and organisations should include a copy of their latest audited Annual Report and Accounts, and a copy of (or link to) any Safeguarding Policy where applicable.

Applications from individuals should be signed or counter-signed by a General Practitioner, Registered General Nurse, Registered Mental Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Tutor/Mentor or Key Worker.

WHAT NEXT?

Once you have applied, your application will normally be taken forward to the next meeting of The Board of Trustees. The Board usually meets four times a year, and applications are reviewed at these meetings (or exceptionally at other times, if considered urgent).

The trustees reserve the right to vary the number, frequency and dates of their meetings. The Trustees will check that applications meet the eligibility requirements, and then judge each case for a grant on its merits. The Trust usually receives more requests than it can support, and not every eligible application can be funded, or funded in full.

If a grant is approved, the Charity will notify the recipient of any relevant conditions of the grant. For larger grants, details of how the project will be managed and monitored may also be required.

The trustees’ decisions about the award of a grant shall be final and no further correspondence will be entered into. The Charity will not respond to applications that are outside its remit.
